The Indians come into this weeks game at 4-0 overall
following a thrilling 17-14 victory over Bangor last Friday.
The Indians jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the fourth quarter,
but Bangor made two great drives to make a game of it late.
The Indians were outgained on the game by a 202-146 margin, but
made key plays on offense and defense. Gareth MacMillan had
a team high 73 yards on the game rushing, while David
Mireles rushed for 66 more, while Luke Traver was two-of-two
passing for 32 yards.
The Indian defense was rock solid most of the night, with one of
the |
|
key plays coming in the third quarter,
when Jared Meachum hit the Bangor quarterback, while Noey Lopez
picked up the ball and ran it 58 yards back for the touchdown. The
defense was led by Tony Kucharski and his twelve tackles, while John
Scherer added eleven more and an interception.
The Indians next opponent comes in Lawton, who comes in a solid 3-1
overall. Last years South Division champions come in off of a 39-12
victory over Fennville last week. The Blue Devils only loss came in
week three, as they lost to upstart Gobles by a 40-33 margin.
Outside of that game, Lawton has been rather solid on both sides of
the ball.
The Blue Devils are led by quarterback Trent Sauer. Sauer, a
quarterback convert from receiver last fall, has thrown for 572
yards this season, adding eight touchdowns against just two
interceptions. He has completed around fifty percent of his passes.
The running game is Chris Withrow, Brandon St. Clair and Colton
Callaway. Withrow has rushed for 220 yards and a touchdown, St.
Clair has rushed for 108 yards and Callaway has rushed for 91 yards.
The receiving core is led by Kurt St. Clair, who has caught eight
passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns, while Josh Hamilton adds
152 yards on three receptions and a touchdown.
The Lawton defense is pretty solid, especially in it's skilled
positions. As of this writing, no Lawton defensive statistics were
made available.
The Indians are home this week, so the stands should be packed on
both sides for this "rivalry" game. Come on out and support the
Indians this Friday night!
NOTES: The Indian Junior Varsity team hits the road this week
on Thursday night against Lawton with kickoff set for 6:00 PM. The
Indians are 4-0 after winning 30-0 in a shutout victory over Bangor
last Thursday. Lawton has beaten Hartford in back-to-back seasons
(55-28 in 2009, 35-17 last season) after Hartford had won two
straight in the series. Lawton handed Hartford its only regular
season loss last season. Friday night is "Senior Night" in Hartford.
Before the game, the Indian senior football players and cheerleaders
will be recognized before the game. The weather forecast for Friday
looks 50-50, as their is a chance of light rain showers and cool
temperatures in the area. Temperatures will be around the lower
fifty's at game time, dropping to around fifty by the end of the
game. The chance of rain is right now set at thirty percent as of
this publication. |
