The Indians were on a downward trend last week. They had lost two in a row to conference powerhouses Lawton and Decatur and some were questioning if the desire of the Indians was still there.
   Well, crisis averted.
Friday night on Homecoming in Hartford, the Indians will look to win the Homecoming game and clinch a spot in the 2011 playoffs when they host our neighbors to the east, the Lawrence Tigers, this Friday in Indian Stadium. The kickoff of the eighth game of the season will commence at 7:00 PM.
TEAMS AT A GLANCE

Record: 5-2 0-7
Win %: .714 .000
Scored: 243 46
Allowed: 121 371
Streak: Won 1 Lost 7
There will be fireworks this week during Homecoming and last week in Marcellus, the Indians had plenty of fireworks. The Indians jumped out and scored the first 45 points of the game in a dominating 45-6 win over the host Wildcats.
The Indians were led by the rushing attack, which had six touchdowns on the night, led by Sergio Perez (three TD's and 155 yards), along with David Mireles (one TD and 159 yards rushing) and Gareth MacMillan (one TD and 117 yards rushing). The Indians even threw for a touchdown, a 53 yarder from Luke Traver to Jimmy Mullins, as well.
The Indian defense on Friday night was staunch, holding Marcellus to around 100 total yards. The Indian defense was led by senior John Scherer, who rapped up a season-high fourteen tackles. Lineman and fellow senior Eric Perez added ten tackles of his own, as well.
The Indians next opponent will come in Lawrence, who comes in 0-7 overall and 0-3 in Southwestern Athletic Conference South Division play. The Tigers are coming in off of a 61-6 loss last Friday night to Lawton.
The Tigers are led by Josh Gendron at quarterback. The Tigers' senior has thrown 33-of-91 passes complete for 473 yards. The big caveat in those numbers are that he has thrown for just one touchdown, but also has nine interceptions, as well. He is also the Tigers leading rusher, carrying the ball 37 times for 168 yards. The receiving core for the Tigers is led by Derek Gribler, who has 216 receiving yards.
No defensive stats for the Tigers were made available as of press time.
It's Homecoming, Hartford, and it could be special for more than one reason. Even though the weather does look gloomy as stated below, the Indians need the fans in the stands this Friday!

NOTES: The Indian Junior Varsity team is, FINALLY, back in action this Thursday night against Decatur on the road, with kickoff set for 6:00 PM. The Indians come into the game 4-1. This is a make-up game for the Indians, who were supposed to play the Raiders two weeks ago, but were rained out. The Indians have only lost one game to the Tigers since 2001, the loss coming as a result of a 38-0 defeat of the Indians in 2009 at Indian Stadium. Lawrence comes in having scored six points or less in six of seven games this season. It is HOMECOMING at Hartford Friday night, which means the annual "Pep Assembly" will occur during school, the crowning of the Queen and Princess at halftime and the dance after the football game, where King and Prince will be crowned. The weather forecast for Friday looks 50-50 as far as rain to dry. It will be quite cooler than last week, as well. The forecast currently calls for a thirty percent chance of rain at game time Friday. Highs during the day will be in the upper fifties, but with clouds, the temperature won't move much. Expect game time temperature in the lower fifties with temperatures near fifty at the end of the game.
