GAME NOTES: |
|
Game
10 of the 2007 season is Round one
of the 2007 Michigan High School
Athletic Association playoffs,
pitting Division six teams Hartford
and Constantine together. These
teams will see each other for the
first time Friday night at Sweetland
Stadium. Hartford visits the stadium
regularly in track, as the Regional
track meet is hosted there. There is
only a certain amount of seating on
the visitors side, so bring your
lawn chairs. |
|
|
|
PREVIOUS GAME REVIEW: |
|
Both teams are coming off of their
eighth win of the season last Friday
night. Hartford (8-1) earned its
second Southwestern Athletic
Conference Championship with a
decisive 42-14 victory over the
Gobles Tigers. Constantine (8-1)
also scored a big win, a 41-0
decision over the hosting Colon
Magi. Hartford's Junior Varsity
squad traveled to Colon earlier in
the season, for reference. |

|
COACHING
MATCHUP: |
|
This will be the first time these
coaches see each other, due to it
being the first meeting between
these two major football
powerhouses. David Janicki roams the
sidelines for Hartford. He has
already accomplished a main goal, a
conference championship, in just two
years in Hartford. He and his staff
hope to continue their winning ways
this week. Janicki is 16-4 in his
first 20 games in Indian Country. On
the Constantine sideline is Shawn
Griffith. Griffith is in his third
season, taking over from the
legendary Tim Baker. Griffith has
guided his team to a co-Saint Joseph
Valley league title in 2006 and was
second this year to Mendon. Griffith
is 28-5 at Constantine. |

|
GAME WEATHER: |
|
Currently, it appears
this game looks to be
COOL AND WET! The forecast is
for cool temperatures
around 55 degrees at
kickoff and falling
throughout the evening.
Also, by late evening,
the threat of showers
and occasional
thunderstorms hits the
forecast, so be aware of
changing weather. |
|
|
|
|
PLAYERS TO
WATCH: |
|
For Constantine, they run the wing-T
offense, so much of their plays on
offense will be on the ground. Jared
McBride and Andrew Morse lead the
ground attack, while Anthony Miller
will call the plays and take the
snaps at quarterback. Constantine's
"biggest line" in a while features
Kyle Grindle, Travis Marunde and
Spencer Bouwkamp. Casey Smagala and
end Brandon Wolfe will be the
defensive leaders. |

SAC CONFERENCE
UPDATE: |
|
Only four SAC teams remain in the
256 team playoff field, which begins
this week. In Division seven, Gobles
(7-2) travels to Muskegon Catholic
Central (6-3) and in Division eight,
Lawrence (6-3) travels to
Climax-Scotts (9-0), while Martin
(7-2) is the only SAC team hosting a
game, as Eau Claire (8-1) comes into
town. |

|
JUNIOR VARSITY UPDATE: |
|
The Junior Varsity
Football team was
stormed out yet again.
After making the trek to
Crossover Rival
Bloomingdale, the
Indians were told the
game was cancelled due
to severe weather in the
area. The game will
not be made up, so,
the Indians ended the
season at 2-6 overall,
1-4 in the South
Division. |
